The Lazy Toad
Made for those who can’t have gluten.
Still enjoyed by those who can.
Small-batch breads, cookies and pastries from a home kitchen in Jackson, Maine — baked slowly, properly, and to order. Everything happens to be gluten-free, so the whole table gets the same thing.
How it works
Everything is baked fresh for your order — nothing sits on a shelf. Here’s the whole routine (the toad insists it not be complicated):
Pick your treats
Browse the menu and fill your basket — cookies by the half dozen or dozen, muffins jumbo or by the four, loaves full-size or mini.
Choose a pickup window
Pick a date and time slot that suits you at checkout, and pay securely online. We bake with at least two days’ notice.
Swing by & enjoy
Collect your freshly baked order in Jackson, Maine. Unhurried, like all good things.
A few favorites
Classic Sandwich Bread
Big and beautiful — a tall, proud loaf that slices clean and toasts like a dream. Also as a mini loaf.
White Chocolate Macadamia Cookies
Buttery macadamias and white chocolate in a soft vanilla cookie. Regular or large, by the half dozen or dozen.
Blueberry Lemon Crumb Bars
Bright lemon and wild blueberries between buttery crumb layers. Singly or by the four.
The Season’s Mystery Cookie
Every season the toad picks something from the back of the recipe book, and we bake it — without telling anyone what it is.
No name, no photo, no list of hints. Just a batch of something we’re quietly very proud of, available until the season turns. Bakers’ word: it’s worth the leap.
Take the leap
Why a lazy toad?
Because good bread refuses to be rushed — and so does our mascot. He naps on a warm loaf, puffs contentedly on his pipe, and supervises exactly nothing.
The baking, thankfully, is handled by Emma.
